Lots of Performances Coming Up! - Ken Mattsson/BeaconBeats Music Newsletter for March 2025

Ken Mattsson/BeaconBeats Newsletter - March 2025

Dear Musical Friends,

It's been a long time since I've written, and part of that has been because I've been on a winter hiatus of sorts, and we've all had a need to settle ourselves in this chaos that has been unleashed in this world. Like many of you I'm sure, I've been dealing with the collapse of the standards of being kind and fair with others that has pervaded so many in power, and it's been a difficult time. While I'm trying to do what I can, I'm also looking to do what I need to keep myself sane. I hope the same for you too.

As we have seen, facts don't tend to change minds, but art does, so I'm doing my art.

What's Up with Ken?

So, I just finished my 6th February Album Writing Month, and I really tried to stretch myself in creating things I haven't. I did hard rock, 80's synthpop, Broadway, and a number of other styles. Some of those pieces will be making their way to performance repertoire, and others, like this gorgeous four-way collaboration, will live in digital form. Check out Trying To Be.

Something Fun

In this time of trouble, I'm reminded of this song, which I have performed many times, and is so beautiful, and I hope gives a bit of hope to others. Tommy Körberg has been a vocal hero to me for decades.

There will be more to come, as we have so many in this world who are trying to tear things apart, we need to build good things up. Be a builder of better things.
